Awaneo, enabled by support from Betway, has been instrumental in facilitating upgrades to the facilities and infrastructure for Rowing South Africa, with a primary focus on Roodeplaat Dam in preparation for the 2023 World Rowing Masters Regatta. Awaneo's role in coordinating and managing these enhancements included overseeing the refurbishment of the clubhouse deck, toilets, and kitchen, waterproofing and painting the deck, and the installation of new windows, doors, and jetties. Additionally, Awaneo spearheaded efforts to stabilize the dam's banks and introduce indigenous vegetation along the shoreline, fostering both sustainability and community engagement.

These improvements not only elevated the functionality and appeal of Roodeplaat for the Masters Regatta but also contributed to its legacy as a hub for Rowing South Africa (RowSA) athletes and local rowing enthusiasts. The 2023 Masters Regatta saw over R22 million in media exposure, and the impact of these upgrades is expected to generate ongoing economic benefits for Tshwane while promoting the growth of rowing in the region.

In 2024, Awaneo played a vital role in supporting Rowing South Africa (RowSA) as they prepared their Olympic team for international competition. Our involvement included managing sponsorship deliverables, through RowSA’s partnership with Rand Merchant Bank, ensuring commitments were met and impactful. We also provided PR support to enhance RowSA’s visibility and strengthen their engagement with key stakeholders. Through these focused initiatives, Awaneo has helped RowSA secure the essential resources for their athletes to excel on the global stage, underscoring our commitment to the advancement of South African sport.
